The Vona and Marié du Toit Foundation is delighted to announce The Sherwood Research Grant, dedicated to advancing the Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability. This grant offers a unique opportunity for occupational therapists to contribute to the growth and development of the Model through supported research.

Eligibility:
This grant opportunity is open to occupational therapists across the globe in academic and clinical institutions. The applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
⮚ Occupational therapists post community service in South Africa, or a minimum of one year of practice as a qualified occupational therapist
⮚ Registered for masters or doctoral research degree
⮚ Applicants that are not registered must have a concept note of how the intended research will contribute towards the advancement of the Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability

Funding Details:
⮚ Total funding available is R10 000.00 per year.
⮚ A motivational letter is required for extended funding beyond one year. The Foundation will make a judgement based on available funds.

Research Scope and Objectives:
The Sherwood grant seeks to support research projects that address:
⮚ Evidence of the effectiveness of the Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability.
⮚ Service evaluation, e.g. assessing service delivery and outcomes.
⮚ Research on the levels of creative ability, especially in areas of physical rehabilitation and paediatrics.
⮚ Theory development to advance understanding of theoretical constructs and assumptions, clarify terminology, or any other concepts related to the model.

Application Process:
Interested applicants must submit the following documents any time of the year
⮚ Research proposal or concept note – including the expected outcomes and impact of the research
⮚ Ethical clearance or plan for ethical clearance
⮚ Curriculum vitae
⮚ Budget plan
⮚ Email the documents to Ms Phalatse n.ramodisa@gmail.com with subject: Application Sherwood Grant.

The closing date for application is 31 March 2025. The successful applicant will be notified by the end of April 2025.
