The definitive textbook on the Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability which is being written and published under the auspices of the V&MdTF is progressing well. A very productive Editorial retreat was held in Pretoria from 6-9 May 2016. It was attended by the 4 editors, Dain van der Reyden, Daleen Casteleijn, Patricia de Witt and Wendy Sherwood (UK). Much consideration was given to reaching consensus on and defining terminology and describing concepts and constructs which required clarification. Chapter reviews and other contextual issues were addressed at length and firm action plans formulated. Most chapters are in the 1st or 2nd Draft stage and are in the editorial process. A second retreat is planned for October 2016. The Pretorius Household is thanked for their hospitality.
The Editors were joined for tea by Jodie de Bruyn and Marianne de Beer ( chairperson and vice chairperson respectively) of the V&MdTF . It provided a great opportunity for members of the SA Exco to informally meet Wendy Sherwood, the Director of the VdTF UK, and chat about future collaboration.
We are proud and happy to congratulate Dr Wendy Sherwood who was awarded a PhD from Wits in May 2016. What makes it particularly meaningful to the V&MdTF is that she undertook a qualitative, grounded theory study on Effort and maximum effort as a contribution to the Theory of Creative Ability, as integral to the VdTMoCA. We look forward to future publications.
